ever so slightly better than average

The exit polls from GoRuCo are in, and I placed last with an averaged rating of 2.66 out of 5. Bah! Even Gordon Brown can do better than that.

To be honest I'm not surprised, so those of you who feel you have to say positive things about the video are now officially excused ;p It was the first outing of what is actually a very difficult topic to ( Read more... )

I can't believe the low rating, and that I'm the only comment...

I loved the presentation. The idioms and format didn't bother me at all. To be honest, most presentations are too slow and boring. Having the slides on auto behind you kept me thinking and gave me a sense of how your spoken topics can be applied in real life. It inspired me to learn more system interfaces, and probably to pick up Rochkind's Advanced Unix Programming...

So, thanks for your work. I'm going to read through the other presentations you have online, but I hope I can find more video.

And thanks for taking the time to view the video and read the slides - it makes the time I invested that bit better invested.

Rochkind is a great starting-point as he focuses on specific areas but there's tons of interesting stuff lurking in google once you start digging. And of course there are the various volumes by Stevens on Unix, TCP/IP, etc. which whilst a little out of date are still great background reading.

Have fun :)
