iamthewind bought me the book Twilight. She liked, so surely I would. I had, of course, seen in on the bookshelves but the summary. Which goes like this: I was certain of three things...Edward was vampy-vamp. Some part of him wanted to devour me (for my blood, of course), and I was totally omg in loff with him ( Read more... )

twilight, fangirls, omg

I BOUGHT TWILIGHT FOR THUTRANG!!! I read good things about it so I got it for her for christmas and she was TOTALLY UNENTHUSED!! And i pestered her to read it for months and she never did!!! Then when I got back from Iceland last week I had a text message waiting for me that she had just finished the second book and that it was amazing!!!!!

Hahaha that's funny that you had low expectations too!!! I'm glad you liked it!!

YOU! It's all your fault! GAH! Now I shall moon over Edward Cullen for the rest of my long years, knowing I shall never have him.

*shakes fist*

But thanks, anyway, because it really is a delicious series. I can't wait for the fourth book =X AND she's releasing a version of Twilight from Edward's POV in December. HOW COOL IS THAT?!

So how was Iceland? =3

I have to say, I had to stop at the rainbow-sparkling vampire. But seriously, the books look okay, it's the fandom that scares me. Half of the fantwits seem to believe that those books are like the mostest original things ever written on vampires ever, and they do not suffer to be proven wrong by decades of vampire literature and movies.

My age is showing, isn't it ?

Heee. Not so much age as insight into literature. Like I said, I put off reading them for a looooong time because it looked bad. Real bad. But I do enjoy some of the different takes on vampire lore if only because I like some variation.

I already ran into a few fan posts that seem to this the series is 'great literature' which makes me groan and roll my eyes. It's fun to read but it's not...you know....classic. It's just entertaining in the same way that dramatic animes are.

But then....I mean, I think Dracula is only considered to be great because of what folklore it introduced. Stoker's writing is horrible and the characters are barely characters at all. The plot is like swiss cheese. But it was new and geared to fantasy sooo....success! So I guess Twilight is, in a way, a friendly Dracula for the new age.

Gah. I rambled -_-;;

Yeah, when I read the summary, I'm like, eh, no John. I don't like Vampires nor girls in love with vampires.

But I read it because John's insistent and annoying. It was the only way to stop him! And John's reading over my shoulder saying, "And you're glad you did."

I was confused for a second because Thutrang was using your user name and I didn't think it made sense to call yourself annoying =P
