Let's Get This Party Started

Oct 02, 2009 13:53

Overall last night was a lot of fun.
A great way to start a month full of Halloween activities.

I know that we were supposed to have pictures - but I forgot so you'll have to settle for the "cheesecake" photos attached to the movies. (I'll do better - I just have to get into the swing of photographing my supper.)

We were supposed to decorate last night, but decided at the last moment to invite our neighbor (an absolutely amazingly sweet Christan woman who gives me hope for the participants of that particular religion.) and thus not wanting to be rude - we put it off til tonight.

We did get a few spooky surprises:

The lady with a back windshield full of skulls and snakes we ran into at the corner grocer.
The tree that until we came right up on it looked like it was laden with birds - a skeletal tree stretching into the dark night with hundreds of birds on it. (It wasn't but for a moment there - this was the exact image we both saw.)

One of the best things about last night was the unexpected lesson I learned.

Watching Witches of Eastwick I learned something about myself and about how the way I view the world has changed - but more I learned to understand what they mean when they say that perception is reality. I saw scenes in the movie that I hadn't noticed before - nuances that I had somehow missed... and I realized that I had been unable to see them before because of the baggage I had been carrying. It was an eye opening experience.

The Movies

Elvira Mistress of the Dark
Witches of Eastwick

The Menu:

Killer Tomato Brochette: Chosen because, I was sure that Elvira has hosted this at some point or another (and as providence would have it we see her doing so during the course of the movie.)

Corny Clam Bake: No recipe, this turned out really really bad... though much like the movie bad meal - but the corn was great.

Mystery Cheesecake: Cheesecake and Elvira go together like well... Fabio and Beefcake. Besides, our lovely witches are a little cheesecakey themselves now aren't they?

I want to apologize for not posting last night.
I had every intention of doing so, but apparently Live Journal had other plans. When I sat down to write out my synopsis I discovered that they were down - and the estimated time of recovery was about 5am.

But - better late then never right?

*note - If you want to make sure you get the synopsis every day without searching through my LJ, you can track my form my user page using the Tag Halloween 2009 Synopsis. (If you don't know how and you need help just ask.)
