Unexpected outcome

When being smart defines who I am, it only makes sense that I take bad grades personally. Not personally like "oh no, I didn't do well on this particular assignment" or whatever, but personally like "Oh, I am no longer the person I am supposed to be." I worry about my grades, mainly, because they help construct my identity. I've always been known ( Read more... )

I totally agree and I found that I took any sort of failure (or not even failure... mediocrity or just good and not excellent) in university very personally. One just does when a large portion of their self-worth and identity come from academics.
