Ferret Playpen

We just moved into a new house that is not great for the ferts to free-roam. So I'm looking for a good playpen that I can set up/take down daily to give them a few hours of playtime. I have been looking at amazon and the reviews for various playpens are not very helpful when it comes to ferrets. I know which ones work for bunnies and rats (not ( Read more... )

Heh, and I recommend the Marshall over Prevue. Marshall playpens don't have any side doors on them. My ferrets used the door on the Prevue's to booost themselves up and reach the top. They have never escaped the Marshall.

My ferrets can escape the marshalls playpen. She jumps straight from the ground to the top.

Op if you get a playpen make sure that your ferrets can not jump out before you leave them unattended.

I've used the playpens as sick cages and it's kept the sick ones in and the non-sick ones out. I have the Marshall version.

Thank you for reminding me I have one of these. I moved into a new house a few months back and this one has a second floor landing with an open banister overlooking the first floor. I've been trying to figure out how to block that or block off the stairs, but they've gotten past all my barriers. I just wire tied the open playpen to the banister and now my landing is ferret safe. Of course, the downside to this is that they are now able to get to the landing and there are 3 doors for them to dig at. Just cut more plastic carpet runner to put in the door openings to save my carpet!

I have the Marshall one - I actually use it as their cage - I have it in the kitchen, and I put pet place mats down inside that are used for under doggie food bowls. Cleanup is easy when you don't have to take a whole cage apart, and when I want to let them out to play I just open it and block off the appliances - everywhere else is ferret proof. Have had no escapes.

I have the playpen from Dr. Fosters and Smith. Ferret playpen I had one ferret manage to jump out of it regularly, but he's like superferret. The problem was easily solved by getting a second mat and sticking it over the top, no more escapes!
