Ten Politically Incorrect Truths About Human Nature

Interesting article in Psychology Today that I discovered while doing some sociology research.

One section in there will be especially interesting to the polyamorous. Didn't realize research had been done on this subject and that the research bore out what many of us believe.

I think I posted about this article before. I was specifically talking about number four on the list (There are more Muslim terrorists). I really wish people would pay more attention to articles like this.

I disagree with some of her conclusions about sexual harassment, but other than that, I had to sadly admit that a lot of it rings true.

I actually hadn't considered that men are treating women the same way they treat each other but ya know...I can see that. I think that that's probably not always the case, but it could explain the confusion some men profess when they can't figure out where they went wrong and thought they were treating the woman like an equal. To be fair, a lot of behavior is pretty hardwired and its pretty new for society to be bucking that wiring the way we have this century (both in quality and quantity). Not saying its ok, but I can understand where some of it comes from ( ... )

And see, I believe that 95+% can be attributed to exactly what you're talking about here. There are still people in the workplace who began when the only women in the office were secretaries.

I worked at one telecom back in the 90's where one of our female technicians took a certain amount of grief from men who worked in other offices and at customer sites because she was young and attractive and by the way she installed phone equipment for a living. She went to one off-site meeting where some of the other technicians literally treated her like a secretary before being introduced because it hadn't occurred to them that she was one of them. She was livid about this, and I couldn't blame her. The offending men, however, were mostly 50+ years old and had never worked with a woman who did what they did. Some stepping back and understanding on everyone's part was what was needed.

Out of curiosity, any particular part you disagree with? (added the question mark...heh)

Dammit, I miss talking with you.
