On reviewing the review (haha) I decided that it doesn't really make sense if you haven't seen the movie. *shrugs* I still recommend it to those who're interested in such things. It was quite fun.
Although I have no interest in the film, based on that review it sounds anti-extremist/possibly fundamentalist rather than anti-religious. And if you're going to give kids credit for smarts, give them credit for being able to tell the difference between "believeing in god is bad" and "being an ass because of your belief is bad."
*nods* Exactly. I mean, I got definitely "anti-fundimentalist" overtones from the film, and the thing that the big "repent!" scene brought out to me was a son or daughter coming out to their parents that they were gay. *shrugs* The movie, more than anything, brought home the message that it's okay to be different, and it's good to be open-minded.
The guy in the review has serious over-reaction issues. He's surprised to see very environmentalist themes in an animated animal movie...when those themes have been in animated animal movies since Bambi. The anti-dogma theme is a bit new, but like Krya says above, it does not sound like a complete anti-religion standpoint.
My summary of that review: "Oh noes, teh librals are getting inside children's little precious heads, run!." Pfft.
