Possibly the best idea I've ever had:
I'm thinking in the context of a Mage: The Awakening game, but think I might run this as a Dread game. Five kids find a copy of an obscure pen and paper RPG called something appropriate like Kobods and Cantrips that is actually the last remaining essence of a Hermetic wizard who acts through the book as their mentor. Other than playing the game, the five also play in an awful, untalented heavy metal band called Hermetically Sealed. Every time they play the same ragged looking man is in the audience, each time with a different woman. One night, these two are the only ones who show up. I'm thinking a Dread game in which the Hermetically Sealed Farewell Tour turns into a black magic vs The Order bloodbath somewhat but not quite a la The Dresden Files.
