Due to a comedy of errors (I'm not laughing right now), it turns out that my macro lens hit the floor tile in my hallway. Frantic testing produced abnormal behavior, which tugrik confirmed to be damage to the USM ringmotor ( Read more... )

I went home to Minnesota to spend time on the family farm, namely so I could be with my folks. What caught me by surprise is that at one point on Saturday roughly 2/3 of my father's side of the family spontaneously arrived at the farm. So we had a very nice impromptu family reunion with lots of burgers and hotdogs.

Ouch. As someone whose lens actually had a camera attached to it when he dropped it a couple of months back, I can commiserate.

Urk! That was one of the few things I was able to comfort myself with -- the body wasn't attached when things went sideways.

I just received word from the USPS that my lens was delivered at the service center this morning, so your commisseration is appreciated. Here's hoping.

Ouch. Rick dropped one of my lenses once. Repair bills aren't fun.

At least it wasn't L glass, but that particular lens ran pretty darn close to the same quality as L. Yeah, unexpected repair expenses for my camera is becoming a theme this year that I could do without.
