Oh, LJ, not again...

So... in the light of the cancellation of basic accounts and, now, the removal of terms like "yaoi" and "depression" and "bisexuality" from the popular interests database... is anyone else thinking of jumping ship ( Read more... )

this sucks, lj is a mofo

I've been mirroring entries for a few months now- everything's copied and x-posted (same name as here, BTW).

It is very bloody ugly, yes, but I think I saw modification instructions somewhere- my f-list looks alright until I actually comment on an entry.

Cool - if I set up an account there I'll friend you (if that's OK with you). Out of interest, other than being fugly, what's the site like to use?

I dunno - maybe I'm being paranoid, but every time something like this happens I feel a little less welcome on LJ, and I'm worried I'll log in one day to discover I, and everyone I know, have been deleted. :-/

Yes, of course =)

The site's quite decent- I've heard it described at 'what LJ was like a few years ago', which makes sense. At the moment, there's a mixture of people who have come from Lj and Greatest Journal; many are still x-posting. The owner, Squeaky, is lovely and always tells us when he's installed some new server or if there might be down time.

I'm boring and just do copy+paste, but I've heard of programs that will x-post for you, like Semagic?

That sounds cool. I was a little worried at first because everyone seemed to be going to different places, but I understand that greatestjournal has basically died a death and journalfen requires invites, so it looks like IJ is where everyone is headed - which is good if it means fandom is more or less migrating to the same place. *Shrug*

Oh! Thank you for posting this! I totally missed Strikethrough 2007 because the only places I went on LJ were minnow-53 and accio_rs_fics. The only reason I found out about it was because Minnow wrote a fic because of all the deletion and I was confused. I didn't even know it had a name until I was browsing the programming at Terminus and saw a thing about it.

As to the actual question, I'll probably just stay here until the communities/people I follow move. I don't think they should be doing this, but I don't want to get up and move. I'm upset at what they're doing, but I'm really too lazy to do anything.

I noticed it big time, because the news broke on my birthday last year - I logged on, idly wondering if there would be any happy birthday messages, and instead my flist was covered in "LJ is evil!" posts. I was like, thanks, LJ, that was a great birthday present. *eyeroll*

Laziness is more or less what's stopped me moving until now. I still don't know if I will (I might just set up an account so at least one exists for the future). I think if I didn't post so many swear words and mentions of handjobs I'd be less worried too.

That's pretty much why I haven't bothered with one yet - can't be arsed to set it up and post everything twice. This is the first time I've properly thought, shit, maybe I should. D:

I got an IJ, started mirroring, then stopped. Too lazy. But I think I'll have to start up again... :(

Laziness was always what stopped me before. But this is the first time I've seriously been worried. I set up an IJ last night, and I'll see how things go this week, I think... :-/
