I strongly approve of that comic. The only good thing Dr-No-Longer Wakefield has done is to get me into medical school, for they asked me about MMR and autism at my interview and I went into a spontaneous rant about how the diagnostic criteria for autism had changed at the time the MMR was introduced, causing the apparent rise in cases, and how the usual age of presentation of autism is at the same age the MMR is given, and how Dr Wakefield fails at research and at life. This earned me an impassioned 'Exactly!' from the interviewer and an unconditional offer of a place. Ha.
I strongly disapprove, however, of aged-up Harry and Draco. Return of the porntache, indeed. Ugh. xxx
You are officially awesome - well, we knew that anyway, but this only convinces me further. *high-fives you* That's so awesome that it got you your place, too. *hugs*
I can't get over Draco's beard. You expect that sort of thing on open mic night dudes with dreadlocks, but not on Draco Malfoy! D:
That particular photo of Harry is extra terrible. WTF? I mean, I thought he looked maybe a tad old in the videos I've been looking at, but not too bad. His hairline looks bizarrely different in that one than in the others (maybe he's not in full makeup?). I weep for Draco, though -- a receding hairline I expected, as it's canon, but that receding? And what were they thinking with his stupid facial hair?
The beard makes me want to weep silent tears. Clearly there is, like, one person who works in makeup for these movies who is just SHIT at facial hair. XD
I also like how Draco appears to have regressed to the same haircut he had at the age of eleven.
... ThisHarryEnfield? I don't know too many British comedians, but that one rang a bell. Perhaps you once linked to it?
The slash posts were very fun! The autism one, not so much. I actually have a friend whose little brother has autism, and their mother is very active in an autism research group that supports the vaccine theory, but I'm too chickenshit I feel it's not really my place to argue with her (especially since she never brings up that aspect).
That's the chap! I rather like his stuff, although not as much as I like Paul Whitehouse or Charlie Higson, both of whom have written for him. The stuff they do on their own is funnier IMO (I *know* I have previously linked to the Fast Show). XD
On the MMR note: it's odd, because as much as I think that Andrew Wakefield is basically a horrible person, I can completely understand your friend's mother's position, because having a kid with autism must be a huge struggle. (If that makes sense.) I don't blame any parent for looking for an explanation in that kind of situation - and that's one of the many reasons Wakefield is so despicable in my mind, because he preyed on that, you know?
I'm sobbing on the inside re: older!Draco. I'm just going to snuggle up with Merlin BBC and enjoy the pretty in that universe instead. THINGS ARE UGLY IN THE FUTURE. OBVIOUSLY THINGS WERE HOTTER BACK THEN.
I like your plan. I also like your theory that the world is getting uglier. An on a related note, I am disappointed that in none of the leaked pics do the Potter adults appear to have domestic robot buddies. I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE FUTURE
