I love Swype. The autocorrect can be annoying, but whenever I switch to using my laptop's touchscreen keyboard and it doesn't Swype, I remember how lucky I am.

[Hrrm. Replies to LJ comments in email used to work, and seemingly no longer do. Bummer :) ]

I'm not sure what that (invasive) means. It's a custom keyboard. IOS 8 provides support for them (finally! :) so you can switch in and out of Swype to your heart's content.

As a matter of fact I have to switch away from it when I'm using Skype because of a bug that makes the Send button vanish (I need to report that as a bug to them)

well, a software keyboard, is a software...

recall reading that it had some kind of phone home metrics ability and there was fear that it could lead to key loggers and such weirdness. some of the kerfluffle was such that i set aside my intent to use right away, and waited. then i forgot :D

downloaded it actually, when it came out "free?", in case apple did a pullaroo... haven't actually installed it yet.

might be conflating with another "fancy" keyboard that i also DL'ed, that had a ton of gimmicks (lightshows, effects)...

send button - would there be a "send gesture", so you don't need send?

Sadly Skype is nowhere near that smart :) It's a craptastic app on every platform, and IOS is no exception.

Apparently this problem happens with every non native keyboard - users here:

say it also occurs with Swiftkey.
