Are you planning on moving off LiveJournal?

So for the last couple of years I've mostly been posting at my blog - http://www.feoh.org - and hadn't realized that recently my LJ cross poster had stopped working ( Read more... )

I have no plans to move elsewhere. Facebook is the devil and I don't trust google+ either. I want to keep my personal and professional lives separate and pretty much all the recent social media want you to combine them and post under your real name. I kind of don't get it.

Follow the money :) They want to be able to select * from massive_consumer_profiling_db where real_name = "Chris Patti"; so they can try to sell me something I bought online once 5 years ago as a gift to someone else :)

I use lj lots, often reading multiple times a day. I have a facebook account, but I don't really use it much; it doesn't work well for me at all. No plans to move away. Lj really works for me, although it is very frustrating that sometimes other people are using it less.

I'm planning on staying here, though probably posting (such as I never do) on dreamwidth and xposting here.

I _hate_ tumblr.

Do you hate the format or the content?

The content is mostly crap, good for a quick laugh and that's it. Although there are some really insightful bloggers using it as well.

The format. The aggressively designed "You may not comment" aspect. The fact that it's purposely obscure to even contact the poster.

Yes, people are using it to post good content (mod Surgeon's Law) I just don't like it as a platform.

For what it's worth, it's possible to enable comments (I use Disqus on my Tumblr). But it's not as easy as it could be.

The part I hate is confusing attribution (or lack of attribution altogether).

I have a dream width account but don't use it. I have a Facebook account for name-space parking, but haven't looked in to it for a while. I post occasionally to livejournal. I've so far not seen them do anything that makes me want to go away, and if they ever have reliability issues, they offer extra free time as compensation.

And, as was mentioned, they are commonly attacked by Russians who are not into the concept of free speech. So why would I want to reward their attackers by leaving?

So. Not leaving livejournal. Not posting in other places, either.
