Why has this been taking so long? The Red Sox offseason preview, that is. I'm not going to lie to you, I've been putting it off on purpose to some extent. i would be psyched about oswalt (not that he's super awesome, but he's about as good as the sox can hope for over the next year or so i think). fingers crossed that foulke goes quietly.

i'm essentially ignoring the offseason until december. i deserve a break from baseball. GO PATS!

that's basically my thought on oswalt, though i suspect that ship has sailed. it's just a glimmer of optimism after a very negative assessment. and i do think foulke wants out of there as much as the sox do. i mean, the Bruins aren't even good enough for him to stick around.

i can sympathize with your wish to focus on football. however, the sun never sets on Baseball with me, as you know.

the sox already declined foulke's option, so at this point it's entirely up to him.

right, and I can only believe/hope that he'll decline his player option too. there's been speculation that he'd pick it up if only because he's unlikely to make that much on the open market. but one would think that whatever difference in money would be made up by the opportunity to prove himself in front of neutral fans, instead of the uphill/unwinnable battle it would be in Fenway.
