Kindness Goes Unpunished, by Craig Johnson - I enjoyed the first book so much I went and read the next two. The stories give an idea of what it is like to live out west, in addition to being good stories.

Neat list. :) Have you ever read Georges Simenon? You might like his Maigret mysteries. If you like Daniel Silva, Alan Furst's WWII thrillers are good too: very atmospheric.

Not since high school, although I understand that while he was alive, he was prolific to the point of absurdity; something like 700 books, or some insane number like that. I will investigate both, thanks.
