This is lovely: the way one small thing upsets them, and then there is a period of awkwardness before their relationship is restored and John's trust is rewarded.

First of all, I love the double meaning of this story's title: that Lestrade has to trust John's motives for keeping quiet about their relationship and John has to trust Lestrade with a pair of scissors. ;-) As usual, the dialogue really shines, especially in terms of emotional resonance. Lastly, I think it's wonderful that the haircut is so much more than a haircut for both John and Lestrade. It's tender and almost sexual in nature, with Lestrade treating the whole procedure with infinite care, while John lets go of his tight control and places himself in Lestrade's hands.

thank you very much - the title was one of the things that gave me most difficulty about this (apart from the haircut itself!) so I'm glad you liked it. I knew I wanted to write this as three 221bs, but John's reunion came as a surprise (as did the blindfold...).
