This is *killing* me. Yes, Lestrade, Sherlock has noticed that John is unhappy and he doesn't want John to be unhappy! Please could you guys get it together?

(I don't even like seeing John with anybody but Sherlock, and I still want this to wind up as a three-person relationship. Jeez.)

I just loved the exchange between Sherlock and Lestrade at Scotland Yard. It was worth it for Lestrade's snarky thoughts alone - and the punch. I know you took "Let's Make No Fucking Sense" from Green Wing, but that line worked so well in the context of Sherlock and his proposal. All the same, it's really sweet when Lestrade realizes that Sherlock's heart was basically in the right place, even if his approach to the problem was lousy. It's even sweeter when Sherlock actually sounds nervous and unsure when Lestrade calls him. Poor Sherlock (in his own selfish way) really is trying to do what's best for everyone. I can't wait to see how the Baker Street talk goes... :-D

thank you very much! I realized once I was writing this part that the three-sided conversation needed to be a separate fic, so this one acquired a cliffhanger ending...

yes, Sherlock is trying to get this right, even though he is making such a mess of it!

Oh poor Lestrade, to have his emotions toyed with in this way. I'm not surprised he hit Sherlock, who really did deserve it.

I so much want to know what happens next, and how much Sherlock has already said to John. I can't count the number of ways things can go wrong.
