I had the immense pleasure of attending the final broadcast of PaniSuta at Rainbowtown FM studios this past weekend, which was hosted by all four *pnish* members. It was crowded like it's never been before, but even though I couldn't see a thing, I could definitely hear, and so I bring this report!
The show started off with a bang--while the other three got everything set up inside, Tuti hung around on a mini-stage outside in front of the window getting the crowd warmed up, and boy was he high-tension! He thanked everyone for coming, and then asked around to see where everyone had come from to see the show today (unfortunately our little gaijin group was too far in the back to be heard over the Japanese chicks XD)
He darted back inside to start the show, and the setup was Daiki and Tuti on the left, and Eiji and Wasshi on the right, with Daiki and Eiji closest to the window on either side. Eiji introduced himself as the MC, and they all went around introducing themselves--and still on a high, Tuti let out a loud, "HI TUTI DESU~!" 8D
There was the usual panisuta fare: birthday announcements, the weather report, and then some random letters from people, such as one fan writing in from Miyazaki to tell *pnish* she was coming to Tokyo to stalkfollow their activities, and wanted some advice on what to see. I couldn't hear Wasshi's, but Daiki thought for a long time before coming up with "Harajuku," while Eiji jumped in to preempt Tuti's answer and say Tokyo Tower. Tuti thought for a moment and suggested a waterfall whose name escapes me. Waterfalls in Tokyo? o_O
They paused here and said this was the time they usually break for a song (there are usually 3-4 songs played per show), but that today, since it was their last time, they were going to talk straight through the whole time!
Here they decided to talk about favorite episodes of the show, and things they learned. Daiki was the first to toss out how much he felt he grew through doing a live show on the air--and alone at times! When you're alone, without a guest, you have to fill in the spaces you usually leave when you talk that are filled typically by someone else speaking. He also added that his getting tongue-tied, he felt, gave hope to others who get tongue-tied as well XD because if HE could make it onto the radio, then maybe they could become something great too! XDDDD
On the subject of hosting alone, they all reflected that they were initially really worried about Wasshi hosting alone XD Poor Wasshi~ Eiji mentioned he felt he learned a lot doing things live, in front of an audience--in a different way from on stage; on stage, you have lines to memorize, and just have to put emotion into the lines. But on the radio it's just YOU talking.
Then they checked the emails to look for new topics, and one came in asking them to talk about all the "happenings" (read: slip-ups XD) for Samurai Mode which had just ended the previous week. Daiki remarked how his flower gun and bomb didn't work at Osaka senshuuraku, and at one point he even LOST the gun backstage when he was about to go on, and ran around screaming, "NAINAINAINAINAINAINAI!!!" ("It'sgoneIt'sgoneIt'sgoneIt'sgoneIt'sgoneIt'sgoneIt'sgone!!"). Eiji remarked on this that in this respect (freaking out when something goes wrong) Daiki is completely different from Mizuki XDDDD
Tuti talked about his handcuffs--his character is handcuffed for much of the first half of the show, before the cuffs break when a sword slices them in half, freeing him. Naturally this required a bit of stage magic, and he actually had two pairs of cuffs, and had to switch them out in a quick change before the breaking scene. Turns out, he had never been able to get it to work out right, timing-wise, in rehearsals, and the first time he was successful was the first show *_____*
In another scene, Eiji mentioned, Eiji's character must bend down and pick up a flower blossom that has fallen on the ground and give it to Daiki's character. The blossoms fall kind of randomly, though, and at one of the Osaka shows, when he went to get it, there was no blossom around him XD so he had to kind of subtly step around til he found one XD Daiki also said he remembered this slip-up and was wondering how Eiji was going to get through it.
Tuti mentioned some funny goings-on during the soba-ya scene, particularly when Eiji's character must eat some soba that has a very spicy powder on it (and he really did eat real noodles on stage with really spicy powder XD).
Daiki mentioned waiting in the wings for his next scene, and accidentally locking eyes with Eiji's character on stage during a serious scene, and nearly making him bust out laughing. Other times some of them would be taking cellphone pics during the scene too, trying to make Eiji break character XDDD
To wrap up this section, they all discussed Sano Mizuki's slipups--like how he tripped on the stairs in a really dramatic scene, or forgot a sweet potato prop and had to use a little bean instead, or lost his shoe on stage and had to go back and get it. The group eventually decided in the end that the one who had messed up the most was indeed Daiki's brother XDDDDD
Much of the rest of the time was occupied in a fun little venture: Get Daiki and Wasshi to Go On a Date Together.
...Everyone still with me? Let me back up a little and explain XD For the past few weeks, PaniSuta had been on pre-recorded-broadcasts, because *pnish* had been busy with rehearsals and shows and on the road and such. Apparently the previous week, someone had written into the guys asking why Wasshi and Daiki never seemed to do anything together. Tuti and Eiji would go out for drinks, Tuti and Daiki had been known to go out just the two of them together before, and Eiji and Wasshi had their share of nights out as well. Wasshi and Daiki were supposed to be the two members who'd known each other longest, and had been friends from the get-go--so why did it seem they never did anything together? In response to this, the pair had said they'd go out and do something together, and then post about it to their blogs.
Well, a week had passed, and no blog posts had been made to indicate the pair had followed through. So this week, another fan sent in an email message reminding them of the promise the previous week, and wondering if they'd gone out and just not posted, or not gone out at all, or what.
And that was just too much for Tuti and Eiji to take. This, they decided, was so very not cool. If Daiki and Wasshi promised they'd go on a date then they needed to follow through with it! Since it seemed that neither Daiki nor Wasshi was too keen on going on a date with each other, Tuti and Eiji took it upon themselves to GRACIOUSLY set the guys up themselves (which led to much joking among our little group over the next few days about the Tsuchiya-Moriyama Dating Service XDDDDD)
They started tossing around dates and locations ("How do you two feel about sushi?"), most discussing it with themselves and ignoring the protests of Daiki and Wasshi XD They eventually tried to figure out if anyone had even ASKED the other to go out--and it came out that Wasshi had forgotten until late that night, and sent Daiki a message. Daiki, thinking it was Wasshi texting about some problem with coming to rehearsals the next day, checked it immediately. Seeing it was just about them going out, he was disappointed at being woken, and ignored it XD
THIS then prompted Tuti and Eiji to START ASSIGNING THEM YAOI STEREOTYPES. It was Wasshi the Seme and Daiki the Uke of course, but it's one thing to have that in your head and another to hear THE GUYS SAYING IT THEMSELVES. This also lead to them cracking up over Daiki pretty much topping from the bottom and Wasshi failing at seducing him, because of the utter rejection of ignoring the text message. Eiji made it very clear, though, in a warning, that, "You two had better make sure you keep your professional lives and personal lives separate, now!" <--ONE TO TALK.
Eventually the conversation got back around to HappyPani which was in a few days, and there was some confusion about whether or not there would be toujitsuken, and Daiki took the opportunity to mention that he'd be in an upcoming drama soon (whose name I've forgotten--but he'd had to go all the way to Osaka that morning and had barely made it back in time for PaniSuta).
At this moment, just a little bit before the end of the program, the studio director walked in with a cake and flowers for all the guys (in wrapping of their colors--accidentally switching Daiki's and Wasshi's bouquets XD) They all took a moment here to say some final words. Leader talked about everything he'd learned over the past 3 and a half years, how thankful he was it lasted as long as it had, because he'd really never expected it to be so successful (the whole time he was talking, Eiji kept jumping in and saying encouraging things XD Half-cute, half-really-annoying XD)
Tuti called the show a great experience, expressing his thanks to all the fans who came tot he studio, all those who listened on the radio, their computers, and to his fellow members."
Eiji's comment was a big to-do, and he kept on going on and on about how the show wouldn't have been possible without everyone's strength, that it was all thanks to the fans and members it became a reality, and without the support of everyone and their strength, it wouldn't have lasted this long.........and with the constant repeating of "minna no chikara" ("everyone's strength") it was kinda obvious what he was prodding Wasshi to do--SING!!
So Wasshi slipped out the door, took a mic, and stood on the little stage in front of the window, belting out "Minna no Chikara" against the karaoke track while we enjoyed the mini-concert XDDDD He seemed to forget the lyrics at a couple of points, but it could've been just him losing his spot because Eiji wouldn't SHUT UP XD And he couldn't hear the music.
After this, they all came outside for some final words of thanks, and the show ended. Everyone hung around, hoping to see the guys off since it was the last show, and after about 10 minutes Eiji came out, in a hurry--probably off to Every Little Thing rehearsals (though we didn't discount him being the bait to distract us all while the other three snuck away 8D) And then another 10-15 minutes later, the other three came out as well--and then slowed down to shake hands with each and every person there *________* They must've been there for ages, because there had to have been nearly 200 girls there.
And that, my friends, was the last PaniSuta ever!! O-TSUKARE-SAMA DESHITAAAAA~!!
