poetry in motion: the february
femslash_today challenge
so, it's February, which means it's time for candy hearts, prepackaged declarations of love, 7-Eleven bought roses and other nauseatingly pink things.
also, the winter Olympics. and, in their honor, our first ever February challenge.
what? you didn't actually think we were going to hold a Valentine's Day challenge, did you? silly lesbian.
the theme of this challenge is kind of loose, and open to interpretation. basically, the challenge is in celebration of athletics. it's up to you whether that means soccer, surfing, ballroom dancing, karate or, well, sex.
obviously fandoms like Bend It Like Beckham, Blue Crush, Bring It On and sports RPFS are all easy matches for this. but so are BtVS/Angel, Coyote Ugly and plenty of others.
heck, any fandom you can come up with, I'm sure there's a way you can connect it to this challenge (unless, some how, you ship two comatose chicks who can't even move in their dreams. in which case, you need to put down the crack pipe). as long as there's some kind of athletic physical activity playing a part in the fic you should be good.
so, pick a fandom any fandom any femslash pairing and write some femslashtastic fic about them. or create some femslashtastic art about them. or make a femslashtastic vid about them.
then, when you've finished, post your work of creative genius to your journal and link back to it here. once March 1st rolls around a master list will be posted and your masterpiece will be linked from it.
there are no real rules or limits. any fandom, any word length, any style, any rating. just so long as there are girl bits and athleticism.
the original plan was to have poetry prompts for people when they signed up. only, that didn't quite work out.
so, the new plan is this: if you want, go find yourself a piece of poetry that inspires you. and then create some femslashy fic/fanart/vids.
make sure you do that before February ends, and you'll be golden.
pimping also couldn't hurt. I'm just saying.
also, feel free to comment here with questions, thoughts on what you're going to do, ideas you'd like to see done by someone who isn't you, etc. half the fun in these kind of challenges is just geeking out over things with other like minded people. really, I promise.
