Can you clarify what would count as a current icon making trend?

Also, for non square, would rounded edges be okay or would that still count as a square?

One of the biggest trends I've been seeing is the highly bright/neon looking icons. A good idea for inspiration is to check out the a few of the entries in 10x10variated. One of its sets is "trendy icons."

As for non square, what I'm looking for are icons that are rectangular in shape (examples: 1, 2, 3).

Crap did I forget to put that in the post?! IIRC, the category set is Negative Space. I put it in the table.

ETA: I just checked. Yup, it's negative space. I'll add that into the post.

Just a quick question before bed.

By negative space, are you talking about empty paces in the icon? For instance would something like the icon I'm sporting beside my username right now work or no?

That's not quite what I had in mind.

Examples of negative space: 1, 2.

Wow! That was so fast. <3 lol. I keep forgetting that most people have different time zones than I do...

Thank you for the examples! I've got to get to bed right now, but I'm finishing up the themes, so I wanted to know what to keep in mind for Category and artist choice. :)

So I have a quick question! As far as the trendy go, I made one using textures from here. Is this okay? I used a light texture she had that was really cool.

Works for me! Light textures are always popular, lol.

yay! I wasn't sure if it'd be alright to use someone else's texture.
