Kitty/Illyana in

Tears poured down from Illyana's big, blue eyes. Her bottom lip trembled. She was surprised when Kitty wrapped her arms more tightly around her quivering body. "I -- I killed you!" she wailed. "You must want me far away from you!"

"On the contrary, my dear," Kitty replied with a grin she hoped would be contagious, "I want you all over me."

Illyana gawked at her. "But . . . But how?!" she cried, stunned.

"Illyana," Kitty consoled, caressing her beautiful face with loving hands, "that wasn't me you killed. Not really. You killed a me from an alternate universe to survive. And it wasn't like it was really even you. You were already being affected by Limbo and Belasco."

Illyana shook her head. Her long, blonde hair flew wildly about her face and entangled with Kitty's fingers. "I knew what I was doing, Kitty! I chose to kill you so I could live!"

"Not me," Kitty said again. "A me from an alternate reality who was probably evil any way."

"She wasn't."

"You don't know that. She pretended to be the real me, so you don't know what the real her was like." She silenced Illyana's further protests with a finger against her mouth. "Now hush. It doesn't matter what you did in Limbo. I love you regardless." She caressed her hair. "It's behind you now, love. Let the past stay buried where it belongs." She kissed her passionately. The past would never stay buried, but Kitty would also never stop loving her best friend.

Kitty/Storm in

She heard their snickers and giggles as they danced on the floor. Ororo pleaded with her to forget them and not give them the satisfaction of ruining their good time. Kitty tried to ignore the townies. She really did, but then one jerk said something that she couldn't overlook, no matter how hard she tried.

"She's old enough to be her mother, and a nigger to boot!"

Anger flooded Kitty's heart and soul, draining the color from her face and replacing it with a red as bright as Lockheed's flames. "Kitten," Ororo started again to plead with her, but Kitty shook her head, dropped her hands into fists, and walked away.

She could hear thunder rumbling quietly outside and a gentle rain beginning to fall and knew her love had been hurt by the idiots' ugly words. What she didn't realize was that Ororo wasn't the only one watching her. Illyana, Kurt, Jean, and every X-Man in the place had their eyes pinned on her, looking to see if she'd need help and all being eager to give it. Logan crushed his beer can and started to stand as Kitty arrived at the group.

"You know," she said, "it takes a pretty small and narrow mind to see two people in love and think only of their differences."

The guy laughed, but a girl in his group asked, "Is it true that once you go chocolate, you never go back?"

"For me, yes, because that woman over there, the one who's old enough to be my mother but who's smart enough not to let a little thing like that stop our love, is the only one for me. She's a more amazing woman than any of you will ever know, better than any chocolate ever, too!" Kitty walked back to her love and kissed her there before the whole world as the gang turned on the girl in their midst.

Mystique/Destiny with

Any one else would be terrified laying, with their hands and feet bound to the bed, and a deadly assassin standing over them, but not Irene. She lay patiently before her love as Mystique mounted her, straddling her with a powerful, blue leg on either side of her naked body. One hand roamed her body wildly while she continued toting her gun with her other hand. Irene smiled as Raven held her gun high above their heads and pressed her mouth to her neck.

Irene had never feared her lover or her gun. Instead, she looked forward to Raven bringing her gun to their bed for she knew she only brought her gun on the best nights. In fact, Irene reflected as she gasped in her pleasure and her blind eyes rolled upward toward where she knew the ceiling was, any one who was curious had only to count the gunshots to know how explosive and wild their love making was. While other people, those calmer and more boringly sensible, smoked with great sex, Irene's passionate love shot a new hole in the roof every time she came. The last time they'd been together had brought thirteen shots. Tonight, Irene promised them both silently as she positioned herself just right underneath Raven, would bring at least fourteen, if not fifteen! She was bound and chained, but her heart soared with love and Raven's administerings. Tonight would be the best night ever, and the roof would prove it -- if it survived!

Kitty/Rachel with

It didn't matter what circumstances brought them together -- rather Rachel was coming back in time, Kitty going forward, or they found each other in another world entirely. It didn't matter what they were doing -- fighting magic, fighting humans or other mutants, stealing, simply trying to eek out a living for themselves, or saving their whole race or entire galaxy. It didn't matter how young or world weary they were, or who else might've been in their lives.

They recognized each other always, even in another's face or with a stranger's eyes. They recognized each other with one glance. They loved each other through all times and throughout all the many, varied worlds through which they adventured, or even suffered as fate might have it, and always, always, they were the best of magic together, defeating any foe, winning all the important battles, and loving each other utmost through it all!

Mystique/Storm/Callisto in

"You!" Ororo gasped. Thunder rumbled as her mind and heart whirled.

She remembered well the beautiful face before her. She remembered nights of endless passion and kisses falling down over their faces like raindrops on a heated prairie in a romance that had been hot enough to melt the Sahara. Those who thought they knew her thought she had been romanced by the Black Panther in those years, but whereas he had tried, he had not been the one to win her heart. This beauty before her, however, had, and now she couldn't believe the truths that were being revealed.

"That's right, Windrider." Mystique smiled. Her yellow eyes glowed from the face Ororo had loved. She slowly reverted back to her own image. "No one else knew. It was me."

Leaping from darkness, Callisto dug a knife into the heart of the woman with whom Ororo had shared such a passionate affair. Ororo stood, confused, as her greatest enemy savagely battled the one with whom she'd shared a love she'd thought would stay hidden forever, the same one who'd taken her man from her. She'd almost come to think of it as a dream that had happened between two desert hearts.

Now, she did feel as though she was dreaming as Callisto, triumphant, returned to her side. "Let me show you how a real woman does it, Windrider." She grinned as she loomed over her, but before she could kiss her, the sky split with lightning and Storm flew away.

Rachel/Kitty/Illyana with

She glared at her, fire in her eyes and power radiating all around her. "You're my woman!"
Lockheed called a warning, his purple tail slashing through the air, a second before Illyana drew her Soul Sword. "Maybe in your time, but not in this one!"

Kitty turned, carefully keeping herself between her lovers. She loved them both truly, and she'd never been able to choose. That was why she had been with Rachel when she'd been in her time frame, and with Illyana when she had been old enough to know her own heart. The way both slipped in and out of her life, she'd never thought this moment would come when she would have to choose.

"I'm sorry," she apologized again. "I never meant for this to happen."

"Well, it did," Rachel snapped.

"And if you can't choose," Illyana added, "we'll choose for you!" She charged around Kitty, who stepped to block her from Rachel but was not in time to stop Ray from telekinetically slamming Illyana back against the wall. "RACHEL!" she bellowed. Laughter paused Kitty from turning on Rachel and heated her cheeks further. Her brown eyes cut at her other best friend. "You could help!" she declared heatedly.

Logan chuckled again. "Ain't no way. You been askin' fer this one, darlin'. I told ya ya better choose." He popped open another can. "Now I'm just gonna sit back an' enjoy th' show."

She had no time to yell at him as she again dove between her fighting lovers.

Kitty/Ororo with

It's good to be back home with her first team, who have always been more of a family to her than any one else. It's good just to be back in the city, to feel the energy and excitement of New York pumping through her veins. She's spent the day with her family, revisiting all her old, favorite places.

They've been through the mall, to the skating rink, and even indulged her in beating most of her team mates at her favorite arcade, whose owner, thankfully, no longer remembers banning her. They've been through the gardens and the zoo. Most of their team mates have fallen out of their non-stopping parade through New York somewhere along the day's journey, and those who remain have gone to different parts of the museum.

Now, she and Ororo are alone together, and it feels so great to have her lover's arms draped peacefully around her. She wants to do something else, but they're in a tour now while their guide drones on about high art. Kitty's never really noticed the difference between high and low art -- until Ororo slides her out of the museum and takes them into the sky.

Kitty gasps at the sight of the setting sun, its golden rays bathing the entire city. She barely has time to breathe, "Now that's art," before Ororo's kissing her and whispering to her how beautiful she is. Kitty sighs, happily melting in this, her favorite, and happiest, moment of her life thus far.

X-Men Forever's Kitty/Illyana with

I can't think straight when you look at me that way. That's why you're doing it. I can tell little 'Ro forever that we were just best friends, but that's never gonna be the truth. You're a part of me. When we were together, you meant more to me than even Wolvy. God help me, you still do. That's why I know I'm gonna step across the fire. I'm gonna step over there into the dark side, join you just because I love you, and we're gonna turn on the rest of my friends, my family. God help us all!

Rachel/Kitty with

"Imagine me and you. We can go anywhere, be anywhere, do anything, in any time, in any world!" Kitty pleaded, tears streaming down her face, as she held her beloved's beautiful but heartbreakingly sad face in her slightly trembling hands.

Rachel shook her head, carrying them further up away from their teammates just to be absolutely certain their conversation was private. "Kitty, we know we can't do that. Besides, you'd leave your friends?"

"Yes."

"Your family?"

"Yes!"

"You'd regret it." Rachel's shaking hands cupped Kitty's; they cried equally as hard.

"Maybe, but I'll regret it more if I let you go!"

Rachel shook her head, closed her eyes for a moment against the pain in her heart, and then reopened them. "You can't keep me here, Kitty. I can't let you."

"Then take me with you!"

"I can't let you do that, either. I'm sorry, but I know what it's like not to have any family and friends left."

"As long as I've got you, I'll be okay."

"Really? You want to never see Logan again, Ororo, and Lockheed? You want to live in a world where our Fuzzy Elf is dead and the dream's in ruins?"

"I want to live in a world with you in it!" Kitty cried, throwing her arms around her and hugging her tightly.

"Then live in this one," Rachel told her, "where I'll be born and where I'll one day return to you."

"When?!"

"Just as soon as I'm able," she promised, tearing herself away from her and doing what she knew she must.

11
Illyana/Kitty with

Kitty moaned. Her hands ran eagerly over Illyana in their desperation to touch her every spot at once. "It's been too long!"

Illyana giggled, earning her a look from her lover that was simultaneously curious and irked that she found their situation comical. "We should write a story," the blonde said. "Every time we start to get together, we're either sucked into an alternate plane or outer space or have to go fight some bad guy and save the day again! I can see it now! It'll be a best seller," she vowed, driving Kitty crazier with the way her perfectly teeth grazed her bottom lip. "We'll call it The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love!"

"No one would believe us," Kitty managed, gently guiding her back further towards her bed.

"No," Illyana admitted, "but we could label it as fiction. Truth's often better than fiction, any way."

"I don't want to write," Kitty said, pushing her down.

"Why not? We'd make loads of money!"

"Because," she said, impatiently stripping away the remainder of her clothes, "I'd rather make love to you!" She caught her bottom lip in her own teeth, effectively silencing her, and grabbed and squeezed her breasts in her hands. She felt Illyana surge against her and grinned. There'd be no more talk of writing best sellers -- not tonight, at least, for they were going to spend the rest of the evening in the bed, even if the world did come to an end without them!

The End

Kitty/Rachel with

She shuts the book with a thoughtful look that turns slowly upon the beautiful woman she loves. The journey isn't always easy, but it's always worth it in the end when soul mates finish life together. Tears sparkle in Kitty's brown eyes as she leaves the story she just read behind and thinks, instead, of the story she's living.

God knows her story with Ray hasn't been easy. Rachel's been taken from her too many times to count, and she wouldn't want to count them if she could. There's too much misery there to ever have to relive it again, though she's secretly fearful every day and night that time will again take away the woman she loves.

Kitty slips lower in bed, placing the book away. Her fingertips lightly brush over Rachel's fiery red hair and delicately caress her skin. They've been through too much, she thinks, to ever let an opportunity slip them by to love as they were born to, as they should, and as they always will. "Rachel, love," she whispers against the redhead's lips, "wake up. It's time again."

Rachel does so quite pleasantly, and they celebrate their love throughout the rest of the night.

13
Ororo/Callisto with

It is the soothing sound of a crackling fire in a heart coupled with gentle hands that lure Ororo back to consciousness. Her blue eyes open slowly and turn to see who is tending her wounds. Her gaze is careful, furtive, a bare glimpse from underneath her eyelashes for her instincts tell her the person caring for her now does not wish her gentility to be discovered.

She doesn't know how she knows her caretaker is a female, but it's with the same calm and seemingly basic knowledge that she has accepted that God is a woman. The firelight flickers over the side of a face roughened from too many hard times and too many battles. Ororo can still see only the outline of her caretaker, but again, somehow, she knows that the woman could have been so much better off if only a few things had been different. She could have been beautiful, and for a moment, watching her in that dim light, she is.

Then she turns to face her, slapping a bandage roughly onto another injury, and Ororo wants to scream. Her caretaker is not beautiful or gentle! She is Callisto, and Ororo's mind must still be lost and delirious if she can think there's anything beautiful about her greatest enemy! Still, though, she can't help thinking, as Cal herself once said, if things had only been a little different, they could have been great friends or perhaps even more. They are not, and Ororo pulls away.

I still don't wanna accept I'm gonna live forever, be older than Wolvy, watch him die eventually. I don't wanna do that. I always thought, with his healing factor, he'd be the last X-Man to die, even though Big B came back and told me I was the last X-Man. I don't wanna bury all my friends; I've lost too many already.
I know I'm gonna have a lot of sad memories. All the more reason to make happy ones. I don't need that excuse to hang with X. I don't need any excuse except she makes me feel even more alive. When I got turned, I thought I was dead but still living, but I'm not. It's like I told her before: I'm more alive now than ever before.
What I didn't tell her is it's not just 'cause of my Vamp blood. It's also 'cause of the way she makes me feel. I've never felt better than on these nights I spend with her. Her lips on mine are what pumps real fire into my veins that're supposed to be dead. Her arms around me makes something inside me sing. Jean told me once that Scott makes her feel like that, but I never got it 'til I kissed X for the first time.
She's the real reason I'm living so high, and I'm gonna make the most of it. I'm gonna spend every night, every moment, I can with her and remember my Summer of love forever.

They stood, staring at the strange object on their small, breakfast table as though an alien had left it in their midst. Brian looked dumbfounded and Meggan puzzled while Kurt's expression hovered somewhere between astounded and amused. His long, blue tail swished, and then, finally, he asked, "Vhy is zere a brassiere on our table?!", just as Kitty and Rachel, yawning and stretching, entered.

Kitty stopped dead in her tracks. Her brown eyes became larger than the plates Meggan held. Her lips froze in mid-yawn; her face transformed into a strange mixture of purple and red that made Lockheed coo in concern.

Rachel closed her mouth from yawning, shrugged, and grabbed the bra. All of her team mates looked directly. Kitty slowly shook her head. Rachel, she thought urgently, don't . . .
But it was too late. Ray grinned back. "Why not, Kitty? I've got no reason to save face. I'm not ashamed of our love." She kissed her there before everybody, bra in hand, while Brian dropped the eggs; nobody noticed. Kitty melted underneath her lover's kiss, her embarrassment fleeing underneath the passion.

Kurt sighed and gave a happy smile and twitch of his tail. "Ah," he sighed joyfully, "young love!"

All mah life, Ah've only wanted somebody to show me love. Ah know it sounds sappy and like Ah'm feelin' sorry for mahself, but it's true. Ah've been on th' run evah since Ah put Cody in a coma just by kissing th' dear, sweet boy. Ah ran from mah own family, 'cause Ah knew they wouldn't understand. Ah'd been loved up until that point, but Ah knew from then on, that Ah'd only evah be a monster to them if they found out what Ah did.

So Ah ran. Ah ran from them to Mystique, an' Ah thought Ah could find love there. Ah was wrong. Momma tries hard, but that woman don't know how to love. If she did, she never would've made me fight Miss Marvel so hard that now Ah ain't evah gonna get her outta mah head.

Still, Ah only wanna be loved, an' that love ain't comin' from Gumbo. All that Cajun wants is t' get in mah pants.

But Ah did know love for just a little while. Ah knew it one Summer on a river bank when one o' mah few real friends took me in her arms. Ah knew it then when she sacrificed herself for me, an' Ah've wanted it back evah since. Ah don't know if Ah'll evah get her back in mah arms, but Ah'll nevah stop wantin' her -- me an' about half th' guys on that've evah worn th' X. Ah sure know how to pick 'em.

When night is falling, she can't relax. Whoever she's with, rather it's Remy, who's good about taking her out and letting her pick a fight, or Logan, who just offers her more beer, watches her anxiousness with amusement. It's those dusky times that she especially wants to kill something, and it's all because the sun is taking too blasted long to set. She doesn't calm until the moon begins to rise and she appears. Only then can X stop the raging war within herself. Only then does she feel peace once more. Only then, with her Jubilee, is she complete.

With every heartbeat, they rise higher into the sky, leaving the water and their team mates far behind. With every heartbeat, she forgets more of the reasons why they shouldn't be doing this as her passionate lover rains kisses upon her face and neck. Her winds and body caress Jean's flesh until she's forgotten everything. She knows no more any reason why they shouldn't be together, not even the ring on her finger, or even her name. She knows only Storm and the passion she brings into her until her husband's voice draws her out of her daydream yet again.

Rachel/Kitty in

They know the world unseen. They travel it almost every day, regardless of what they really desire to do. They've been back in time and forward, too. They've visited other worlds and rescued parallel planes more times than they care to remember. They've been not just all around the world but all throughout the galaxy, saving lives and worlds, as well. There's nothing out there they don't know or haven't experienced.

Yet, their favorite world always lays close to where they make their own home. Right behind their very, closed doors is the world they crave. Only there can they forget everything and shut out everybody else. There, they can be themselves entirely and only themselves. They no longer have to fight with everything in them for a better world; they've already got the best any world can offer in each other.

It doesn't really matter what they're doing, rather they're making love, merely cuddling, watching movies, playing games, reading books, playing with Lockheed, trying on new outfits, or doing nothing at all. What matters is that they're together and, for a change out of danger, and they can show how much they love each other and revel in their shared peace and never-ending, blissful love without any strings or boundaries attached, without words if they so choose, without the prying, judging eyes of the world, and with no other expectations or responsibilities. They can love each other freely, and that's what they'll do, rather at home or elsewhere, forever.
