I don't know the fandom yet, but this was an interesting little drabble. What really caught my attention, however, was your avatar. It's such a pleasure to see some one using Meggan; the Excaliburites never get enough attention!
Thank you! I'm still terribly fond of Excalibur, and refuse to believe that certain things have ever happened (though I quite liked the Captain Britain and MI-13 stuff, I just pretend Kitty is off somewhere in deep cover for Alistaire)
Which things in particular are those? As for me, my only major complaints are that they foolishly ended the series and the way they split Pryde and Wisdom apart. Don't get me wrong. I do love others with Kitty, like Kurt, Piotr, Rachel, and Ororo, but I just didn't like the way they handled their breakup. For years, I thought she'd actually done something major with that SHIELD agent, until I read the actual series, and that wouldn't have been like Kitty. What she did do, especially considering that Ogun was in the boy's body, never should have broken them up. And if it was just Pete's way of getting out of Kitty's life to protect her, we know she would have seen right through him!
Erm, I pretend everything after #103 is sort of hazily untrue (though as I like the CB/MI13 stuff, I have to hand-wave "and then Excalibur started working for the British government" in some way. Or just keep the "Kitty ran off to Westchester and then got Really Jaded and went to school and Alistaire called her back" sort of plotline, which doesn't match canon anyway--also, all the stuff with Meggan and Brian still requires the sort of weirdness that occurred, otherwise her not being around makes little sense).
omg, that LS was so awful, though, even aside from the Kitty Flirts (or whatever) thing. Just. It was like they were desperately trying to bring in all this Significant History stuff, and it faaaailed horribly.
*pauses* ahahah. Sorry, but I don't normally talk about my dislike of anything after 1997. I'd like to say it was for less petty reasons, but it really was the break-up of Kitty and Wisdom that made me drop every book I was buying at the time (ok, and I was out of work and going to school by then)
