Motee had poison. She kept it with her jewelry, in a little vial on a string. Use of it would violate the Handmaiden's Code, but there were bigger things than codes.
Her true love had been forced into an arranged marriage with a much older man, by her family. When she showed Padme the poison, she had explained herself thus:
Two things could require its use. One was if her lover were treated badly by her spouse, and could not find any other remedy. The other would arise if she ceased loving her, at least as much as her husband. Then she would drink it herself.
Padme hugged her, and shook her head, smiling. "You are stronger than that, my Motee."
