The wall is unyielding behind her, but Rachel keeps pushing back against it. As if she can push herself through it, disappear into the deep v-shape of the corner through willpower alone.
“Hurting me isn’t going to solve anything,” she insists, fingers scratching at the plaster and beige paint.
Santana just narrows her eyes.
“We are on the same team now, whether you like it or not, because Glee Club is a team, and part of a team dynamic involves caring for and being protective of each other.”
Rachel can hear how shrill her voice is getting.
“So, by attacking me, you’re not only attacking everyone else on the team, but you’re attacking your own place on the team, and I don’t think you really want to leave Glee Club, do you?”
She’s not even pausing for breath between words any more.
“Because it’s rather obvious that you like people looking at you and really Glee Club is your only way of getting on stage now you’re no longer a Cheerio.”
Santana bears her teeth. Rachel squeaks and slams her eyes closed.
The slap never comes.
Instead there’s heat and insistent pressure against Rachel’s mouth and the taste of cherry lipgloss.
Gone just as quickly as it begins, and Rachel’s eyes fly open.
Santana’s glaring at her.
“You know, you’d be a lot easier to deal with if you’d just shut up for five minutes,” she snarls, and then she’s storming away.
Rachel watches in silence, cheeks burning, heart pounding.
