Hours after the attack you are still pale and trembling. You lay stretched out like a sacrifice upon the bed.
Blame you? Of course I don't blame you. The man was an animal; and yet, when I touch you, I find I am not quite gentle.
"You do blame me," you whisper.

You gasp and turn away. Your bedgown is so old and soft, so easy to rip. I catch your hip with my teeth and cling there.
You lay still and unresisting and let me learn what else besides tenderness my love may be made of....
