She wandered through her children like a ghost. And what was she to them? They never saw her, never knew her and yet she controlled their lives. Every single one of them.
She walked near Echo, momentarily remembering the girl she had once been, before continuing on her path. Echo turned as she walked past her. This surprised her, made her heart beat quickly, if only for a moment.
"Why are you here?" Echo asked.
She was taken aback. "Why are You here?" She responded, knowing the question would confuse her, quiet her.
"Because of you," Echo replied.
Her heart jumped. Of course it had been because of her but she was not suppose to know, was not supposed to remember. She walked away from Echo wordlessly.
That night she couldn’t get Echo's words from her mind. It had sounded like a pledge, like a dedication - "Because of you."
