Atia is a cold and vicious whore, but there are times when even Servilia is forced to admit that she is quite beautiful. Usually Servilia's rage is enough to keep her from noticing (and it's amazing how much gets lost in that angry haze these days), but Atia has not clawed her way up the social ladder just by luck. She is alluring, and she is well aware of how to use that particular attribute to her advantage.
She comes up and kisses Servilia on each cheek while she says "It's so important to have solid friends in times like these," as if either of them could mistake this relationship for friendship.
"And I know you're upset with me, even though I can't imagine why," she says - and that's a lie, she knows exactly why, and sometimes Servilia wonders if Atia thinks her an idiot - as her arm slips around Servilia's waist to hold her tightly. It's like being caught in a net, and there's no escaping it now.
"So why don't you let me make it up to you," she says, whispering out of her cursed lying mouth, and Servilia lets herself be pulled along even though she knows better.
