They are all actually tied together by the most unusual bonds. That of mother to child, mother to mother (oddly enough!) and there's this matter of "communing" that you've brought up, especially through touch.
Come to think of it, the Cylons do that a lot. They have to physically touch the base ship through that weird liquid stuff; the hybrid is physically 'touching'/is the base-ship; Three, Baltar and Caprica do a lot of touching, too, as part of some weird trinity.
Thanks so much for sharing! :) Love the Map immensely.

haptic is the theorywank adjective for the sense of touch, and its one of the things about the portrayal of the cylons this season that I love the most. between that and the lesbian moms there's just this giant nexus of metaphorically charged girlsex to work with!
(p.s. hey, given your bibliographic difficulties, I though you might find this community that I recently ran across useful: article_request)

And I really love how sensuous the cylons are, and how they need to touch and feel as a way of understanding and connecting.

I forgot to come back and read this until now, and well... oh my.
What a very interesting take on things, and, sadly, far too hot and slashy for it to be where they take it in the show. ;-)
