A couple of minor typoes: red-rimmed and dark-haired are usually written with a hyphen. "To a woman so foul", you meant, and "slowly shifting". Minor points, of course, but I thought you might like to be told.
It really was a very nice ficlet. I like the interpretation. Who do you think the watcher was? Or does it matter?

I wrote the watcher as a random lady in one of the potraits - I figured she looked similar to Cho, which is why Marietta was drawn to her. Although rereading she sounds a bit more like a drifting ghost. Ho hum. Guess it doesn't matter terribly...
