She remembers the time she pulled to the shoulder of the road after leaving Rogue at Xavier's for the first time. She remembers how calmly Irene had waited for her inevitable break down and how gentle her hands had been when she'd lifted Raven's hands from the wheel and forced her to relinquish her grip. She remembers her gentle loving and how she'd held her so tenderly as she'd finally let it all go.
Irene had never been one to ask questions. Raven supposes that that was in part because she always seemed to know what she was going to think or how she was going to react before a certain event even unfolded. That was perhaps in part due to her love's clairvoyance, but Raven has always suspected that it had a greater deal to do with the simple fact that she knew her even better than she knew herself.
Her hands tremble now as they leave the battered steering wheel. It would make sense to get a new car, especially after all this time, or at least a different ride, but every time she comes to Westchester, she always finds this car swiftly and never fails to hide it again before leaving. There's something about it, perhaps that it's got as many miles under its hood as she does or the memories it holds, but she keeps coming back to it again and again. Tucking it away, Raven wishes it was as easy to return to a lover.
