“You’re a woman,” was the first thing Felicity Queen said as she entered the office.
Sitting behind her desk Laurel Lance looked down at herself then back at Felicity “you’re right! Maybe we should switch places and you can be the detective.”
“Are you this rude to all your clients?”
“Just the beautiful ditzy ones. Please, take a seat and tell me what I can do for you.” Laurel’s suit looked like it was nearing the end of it’s life. Her desk was a mess of papers.
Felicity sat. “It’s my husband, Oliver,” she said, deciding to give the female P.I. a chance.
“It usually is in this job,” Laurel sighed.
“He’s been staying out late, sneaking out in the dead of night.”
He must be crazy if he’s stepping out on this bombshell, Laurel thought. “You think he’s having an affair?”
“That, or something else he shouldn’t be doing. Either way I want to know.”
Chances were this would be a classic cheating husband, boring work but at least it might get her somewhere close to being able to pay the rent. Besides she never could resist a sexy blonde in distress. “Okay. I’ll take the case.”
“Just like that?”
“Just like that,” Laurel grinned. She quickly rattled through her rates, which Felicity agreed to and quickly left.
Laurel sat back. Unprofessional as it was she wondered how long after exposing her husband she could leave it before asking Felicity on a date. She was just her type.
