Back in our day, women like us were unheard of. We were taboo, always speaking our minds and never taking for granted what the men felt were their rights. We never backed down from a fight, rather it was physical or simply using our tongues for our beliefs. We carried guns long before women were common in the military, and one night, they'll pry my gun from my cold, dead fingers.

But that's the night I look forward to, Irene. Our people are in the media every day now, both mutants and women and gays, too. We're speaking up and looking forward to a brighter future, some say, than was ever dreamed of before. We're standing for what we believe in every day, and it's getting constantly easier to live as mutants, as women, and as Lesbians.

Or so they say. I'll be honest. I don't really know. I haven't really tried, because I'm not living. I'm existing. I'm waiting one day through the next. I'm waiting for that night when they take my gun away. I'm waiting for the night I'm back in your arms again. I'm waiting to be with you forever.

The End
