Jane held up two spoons and handed one to Miranda. “I thought that might be your answer.”
Miranda took a big spoonful of the brown butter chocolate chip cookie dough with walnuts and dried pineapple chunks. “This is heaven…” She moaned with a mouthful of dough.
“One day I’ll actually bake a batch for you.” Jane laughed.
“We’ll see…” Miranda teased.

Miranda furrowed her brow when she felt the cool water splash cross her exposed skin. She opened one eye to see her twins splashing in the pool with Jane’s daughter Gabby.
“Girls.” Miranda sighed.
Caroline and Cassidy laughed and simultaneously drawled “sorry, mom…”
Jane took Miranda’s hand, threading their fingers. Miranda smiled and laid back on her pool chair. She brought Jane’s hand to her lips and kissed her knuckles.
“I say we get in the pool and teach the little punks a lesson.” Jane whispered, smiling conspiratorially.
“I like the way you think.” Miranda nodded with a mischievous grin.
