She hesitated just a second before knocking on the bulletproof glass. “Hey.” She thought of how muffled her voice would sound from the other side for a brief moment before shutting it down.
Inside the chamber, the bubble-cell, Skye looked over her shoulder. She sent back a half-hearted, “Hey.” Then she laid down her head on the bed again.
“How are you feeling? Better?” Bobbi didn’t try for levity yet. It would come with time, but not today.
Bobby saw the younger woman’s shrug through the thin material of the quarantine’s gown. “Dunno, everything just feels too crappy.”
“It’ll get better.” She didn’t say she knew how it was, for all she had been in quarantine a few times. Skye wouldn’t interpret it the right way as she was and, who knew, maybe she’d be set off somehow.
Bobbi didn’t want that.
Even if there was no reason for it to be possible to set off Skye.
Another train of thought best shied away from.
But even as she asked Skye if she wanted something, joked about getting a laptop through the glass that separated them, her mind didn’t stop. As much as it hurt, was she visiting a prisoner?
