Angie Martinelli is all too familiar with pretty girls hanging out in the diner.
She’s even flirted with a few of them, but it’s never gone further than a secret make out session in the dinghy bathroom, and the girls would never set foot in the place again.
Angie is on the midnight shift, again, when another gorgeous woman comes walking into the diner.
She fixes her trademark grin on her face, and makes her way over to the woman.
“May I take your order?” Angie asks.
“I’ll have a cheese and cucumber sandwich, and a cup of tea, thanks.”
“I love your accent.” Angie says without thinking. She mentally cringes.
“Thank you.” The woman smiles up at her.
“Your welcome.” Angie says, noticing the dark circles beneath the woman’s eyes. “Tough day at work?”
“You don’t know the half of it.” Peggy mutters.
“Then, tell me.” Angie says.
The woman looks apprehensive.
“Oh come on, you’re literally the only person here, English. Besides, I’m good at keeping secrets.”
“Okay.” The woman points the seat beside her. “Take a seat.”
Angie does. “By the way, what’s your name?”
“Peggy, Peggy Carter.” Peggy says.
“I’m Angie, Angie Martinelli. It’s nice to meet you.” Angie says, and she means it.
