Maleficent found the word peaceful to be a useless term. It was as if to designate her lands (or the whole world) a place where no fighting or bloodshed happened. But, she knew that could never hold true.
There was always someone, somewhere, using violence for whatever reason, because it was only natural, because there had to be balance. Because it was absurd to think that everyone could be happy.
Even animals with no self-awareness were fighting instinctively for food, for mates, or even to keep oneself from being eaten.
Aurora pointed out that creatures without sentience could be peaceful, depending on the environment.
Maleficent supposed that could be possible, though rarely, but there would always be competition, animals who were hungry.
Aurora gives her a half-hearted smile. "You shouldn't look at the world with so much pessimism."
Maleficent wonders how the girl could be so positive all the time.
