Lexa has been following Clarke for three days.
She's shocked Clarke hasn't caught her yet, but from the looks of it Clarke has other things on her mind.
Not for the first time, Lexa wonders what really happened at Mount Weather. She wonders how the Sky People are and if Clarke's friends are happy.
She knows what became of Mount Weather. Every Grounder knows what became of Mount Weather.
She remembers her new adviser, Ellis, grinning with joy as she delivered the news. She remembers the celebration.
She remembers the speech she had made afterwards. “I must go and personally thank Clarke of The Sky People, but do not fear, for I will not be away for long.”
Lexa knows she should feel guilty about leaving her people, but she doesn’t. She left them in good hands. Besides, it seems as though everyone is too caught up in their own happiness due to the fall of Mount Weather to worry about being attacked.
She watches Clarke, asleep for now, and feels like a coward. She hasn’t been able to work up the nerve to approach Clarke.
Lexa is almost asleep, when it happens.
Clarke begins thrashing, and whispering “I killed them. I killed them. I killed them.”
Lexa wants to wake her, call out her name, pull her from her nightmare.
When Lexa bares witness to Clarke’s scream as she wakes, her heart breaks just a little bit more.
“I’m sorry.” Lexa cries out, before she can stop herself.
“Lexa?”
