"If we have no further business here..." Alison says, starting to turn away.
Angie knew it was a prim way of saying "go away". She'd dealt with middle-upper class types like her before. She knew their game, and to catch them off guard easily.
Angie took a step to the side, to get better eye contact with her. "Actually, we're not. I still have several more questions to ask you, Ms. Hendrix."
Bingo. The woman looked nervous. She saw her eyes darting left, then right. Angie had been a cop long enough to know Alison Hendrix knew something about Dr. Leekie.
It was certainly suspect-like behavior.
Angie watched as Alison's Adam's apple went up and down as she swallows hard. Her cheeks began to flush. "I already told you. I don't know who that guy is. Now, please leave me--"
Angie did not grab her, but her tone was enough to stop her from walking away again. "If you refuse to answer my questions here, them I'm afraid we're going to have to do it at the police station."
Alison's face visibly crumbled, but said nothing. Oh geez, Angie thought.
