There’s a lot of stress in Gwen’s life. There’s working for an organisation that she doesn’t trust, graduating school and applying for scholarships. There’s the empty space at the table where her dad used to sit.
There’s Peter.
Gwen loves him, she really does, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy, having him in her life. He has his own stresses, huge burdens on his shoulders, and she supports him as much as she can, in the times when he reaches for her instead of shutting her out. But he’s so consumed by it all that he doesn’t always see what she’s struggling with, doesn’t always see that he’s not the only one barely holding it together.
Which is why Gwen’s learned to love these coffee breaks so much.
It’s not the reprieve from work, although it’s definitely welcome. It’s not the caffeine, even though Oscorp only stocks the finest blends.
It’s Felicia.
It’s the feel of her mouth, pressed close in the dark of a storage closet or a bathroom stall or some private corner, hoping nobody stumbles upon them. It’s the way Felicia smirks, the way she bites at Gwen’s bottom lip. It’s the way she shoves Gwen’s skirt up, drops to her knees, the light in her eyes when she glances up, mischievous and full of heat.
Gwen always feel refreshed after her coffee break, even when she doesn’t get a sip of coffee. She doesn’t need it; she’s got the taste of Felicia on her lips instead.
