Deb loved Dexter. He was the only one constant thing she had in her life. He was always there for her. However, there was one part of him that she could never really understand - what he is, what he does.
No matter how much Dexter tried to show her that what he does is justifiable, she still saw it as wrong. She thought it was so messed up, falling in love with her brother, but a serial killer? That was even harder for her to swallow. She put those kinds of people away for a living - like Hannah McKay.
One toss of that pretty blonde hair and Dexter turns into a fucking moron. He chose her. Hannah understood who he was, what he was.
Maybe that’s why she was jealous of Hannah. Not because Dex chose her, but because she understood that part of him who she couldn’t bring herself to fully accept.
Now that woman was in her kitchen cooking dinner for the two of them.
“Hungry,” the blonde inquired.
“Are you kidding,” Deb scoffed.
“Totally fair.”
She sat down anyway and ate with the fugitive, picking her own helpings of the meal. She couldn’t believe she was eating food that the serial killer made.
It wasn’t actually that bad, she thought, and she wasn’t just thinking about dinner.
