Summary: Alison had to be careful with her wine.
Sitting in a lumpy red chair, holding a glass half full of vodka, Beth reminded herself for the second time that her shift had ended almost an hour ago.
Said alcohol was courtesy of Alison, who oddly enough held a glass with wine in it.
Upon further inspection, it did have wine it, but it was gone now, and Alison was getting up to re-fill it.
When Alison returns, Beth nods at her, gives her a sheepish grin. "Be careful, Alison. Even off-duty cops can put someone in a drunk-tank." There was no malice, but it was a tense joke.
Alison snorts, taking a small swig of her wine. "Oh? Well, can an on-duty cop, put an off-duty one in a drunk-tank?" It was a lighter joke this time, but uneasy on her. Alison knew Beth would never get so drunk that she couldn't stand up. Or slur. It was a reminder that Alison had, and Beth had witnessed it. Probably more than once. Those nights were too fuzzy.
But, Beth had been professional and humble about it. Lucky for Alison, Beth wasn't a gossip. Or worse, a gossipy cop.
