I am still getting used to Matt Smith's face. It is extreme. The floppy hair IS awesome, however. I am a huge fan of the ugly hot face (hello, David Thewlis), and tend to do a mental "if they mated" to help me categorize those faces. For instance, if Randy Harrison and Stuart Smalley had a boy, it would be Luke from As The World Turns. Matt Smith has eluded my formula so far. Those deep-set eyes are distracting me. He's all brow bone and floppy hair, that one.
Some day, I hope Rupert Grint will get to be the first ginger Doctor. I think he would be terrific, a still-water-running-deep Doctor to counterpoint the increasing mania of the last three. And he's ginger WITH floppy hair.
It's funny; I still can't acknowledge true requited romance from Rose or Jack or anyone else in DW, though I'm sort of okay with them having unrequited crushes on him. (I just don't have a difficulty reconciling all the Doctor's affections as deep, but platonic. It stems from having been a DW fan from way back when.) Which is probably why I'm okay with River Song because the Doctor still isn't, and probably won't be during the course of the show, in the active phase of returning her affections, even if we can assume he will in some future we never see. To me it's nearly as abstract as thinking about him being Susan's grandfather so he must have had a wife and children at some point, but I don't really get into deeper thoughts about that.
