First of all, OMG summer in VT is awesome: freckles, skinnydipping, dancing, friends, wine, etc. Secondly, BSG kicks my ass all over the place. Pretty much everyone I know here is going crazy over it and that is totally fun.

Sample femme!outbursts during BSG viewing:

"This shit is EPIC!" (Rinse, lather, and repeat)Regarding Kara and each ( Read more... )

What? You don't like Battlestar? You don't have access to Battlestar? *is confused* Because it seems like something you'd really like. And I meant you in the singular, not just 'cause I think it's the best show on television right now.

And thanks for the congrats and YAY FUN. Yis. Hope you're having some also.

I haven't seen it. I guess I could rent it one day. But I'm full up at the mo' watching DW and stuff. I fully plan on watching it one day, but like everything else, it will be far too late to partake in any discussion of it.

I hear you. I was waiting on it to, BECAUSE I DID NOT YET KNOW, and because my lists of stuff to watch are so long. But that's how it always is. Anyway, then I was kidnapped by RL friends who are obsessed with it, and that was the end of that.

OMG. We are *one* in the hive-mind. I have *always* felt that Starbuck=slash. In my mind, though, I decided it's because I know that Starbuck was "supposed" to be a guy (even though I luff this Starbuck even more than the hunk of yesteryear, Dirk Benedict). But, since you've already said you're too young (bitch) to remember the Original Battlestar Galactica, and therefore the original male Starbuck, that is not a suitable explanation for you.

Clearly, whilst my tendencies are explainable, you're still a freeeeek.

Yes, I am a bit of a freak, and I think it aids my enjoyment of life a great deal. *g*

But back to Starbuck, I was thinking earlier though about how I actually also truly love how she's a butch straight woman, because they totally exist and don't get much visibility. Because gender performance and sexuality so not in a direct corellation. And it's weird because though I would find the idea potentially hot, I don't really 'ship her with women. Perhaps also this is because so much of her tension with men feels slashy. I have more coherent rambly thoughts about this but I'm in the airport.

But by herself? Still slashy. Rowr.

Well, as to the "butch" straight woman...the s3 three trailers

show her with long, flowy blond locks. Of course, there is nothing saying you can't have long hair and be butch, but it's not the norm. So the times, they might be a changin'.

I can't picture shipping her with women either, although...the original Starbuck and Boomer (both men) were bestest of best buds. They didn't go that way with *this* Starbuck and Boomer. They seem more like just acquaintances.

I think the gender-neutral barracks where men and women are bunking together and nudity is clearly not an issue has something to do with all this too, but I can't really articulate how that is yet.

By-the-by, I haven't seen the second half of s2 due to massive schedule upheaval and moving, and am waiting on the DVD to catch up. So if any of my comments seem out of sync with s2 canon, that's why.

Oh! You live that close to Atlanta now? *angsts* I'm going to be there from Thursday night and then fly out around noon on Monday. There will be another time--there has to be!
