...and so I bleerily respond to the questions
hansbekhart posed to me for that Interview meme y'all were doing like two weeks ago even though I hadn't asked for questions. But I figured, what the hell.
hansbekhart, who is from the town where I lived for seven years up until last summer but whom I did not "meet" until after I'd left when I read her AWESOME fic

And also I'm going to the east coast for a month and the DM3 kids are all going to be there then and they're my best friends in California...
NOBODY SMOKES WEED???? Ugh. That's too bad. And so deeply inaccurate. But yeah, really the best thing about SC is um, how much people LOVE IT THERE. Even as everyone's always talking about "getting out." Seriously my dream would be to get hired at UCSC after I'm done with my Ph.D. Then go to Vermont in the summers.
But still, of course I will watch it. And dude, Clea Duvall and Danneel Harris rival Jensen for the hawt.

Someone should write that, yes. I've vaguely touched on it, but attempts to do it as the center of its own fic have not gotten very far.

Erm.
Your musings about Santa Cruz make me incredibly fucking homesick for College Station, which is ludicrous because it's the kind of place you can't wait to leave when you're there.
ASK ME QUESTIONS. I AM INTERESTED TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ME.

Okay. Um, questions.
1. Do you consider yourself a romantic at all? Why or why not.
2. What do you find different and/or the same about Potter fandom vs. SPN fandom?
3. What's something about you that most people don't notice right off the bat?
4. Is there anyone important in your life that doesn't know about your fannish endeavors at all? Who and why.
5. Are you ambitious? If so, what do you wanna be when you grow up?

Well, this is kind of a difficult question because there are lots of kinds of romantics, right? I mean. I'm much too cynical to put any stock at all in the one-person-for-everyone trope, and I'm not really a big fan of hearts and flowers and that sort of thing. Then again, about the best Christmas present I ever got was my ex-boyfriend signing our names together in the register at his parents' church when I went to Christmas services with them one year. (Although two months later, we were broken up. Sigh. Two years down the drain.) I think what I mean to say is that I crave the stability and emotional security of a long-term relationship, but it's not really for what one might consider "romantic" reasons? Because seriously, I'd rather play video games in my pajamas than do a romantic dinner. And I'm almost entirely lacking in the possessiveness and sap departments that seem to be part and parcel of what passes for romance in this culture.
IS THAT ANSWER QUESTION Y/N

I agree that most of the wank that I see across fandoms is pretty f-ing similar. And I do also wonder about how much that has to say about the dynamics of female socialization.
It's interesting how the differences between people and their parents are so well, different. I mean, I'm different from my parents in a lot of ways, but definitely being their child (and respecting a lot of their belief systems) has had a profound effect on who I grew up to be. My mom and I are especially different and there have been times when we've been arguing about something and I'll say, "This is what happens when you raise your daughter to have her own mind, Momma."
I hope you get one or more of those dreams fulfilled in your life. <3
