But I figured, what the hell. hansbekhart, who is from the town where I lived for seven years up until last summer but whom I did not "meet" until after I'd left when I read her AWESOME fic Beach Read more... )

Ahahaha! Omg dude, I was seriously griping just 20 minutes ago that I didn't have any Nutritional Yeast. I put it on buttered toast with Bragg's Amino Sauce or whatever it is. Although - dude, your response to that question made ME homesick. I've been back here for about a month and now, I seriously can't believe I ever left. There are some places that you can really, truly fall in love with, and Santa Cruz is one of them ( ... )

Man, I'm feeling pretty sorry that I just didn't MOTIVATE to come to California this summer since I don't know when else I'll be able to go. Of course, I'm also deeply in depth as well. But mostly I was just too damn tired and when I emailed everyone I'd want to visit...the list was so long it exhausted me. That's so sad.

And also I'm going to the east coast for a month and the DM3 kids are all going to be there then and they're my best friends in California...

NOBODY SMOKES WEED???? Ugh. That's too bad. And so deeply inaccurate. But yeah, really the best thing about SC is um, how much people LOVE IT THERE. Even as everyone's always talking about "getting out." Seriously my dream would be to get hired at UCSC after I'm done with my Ph.D. Then go to Vermont in the summers.

But still, of course I will watch it. And dude, Clea Duvall and Danneel Harris rival Jensen for the hawt.

Yeah, that cracked me up. Clea DuVall has this angsty part where she's convinced she's not as hot as the other girls that work there, and I sat there thinking that, even as a straight girl, I would totally hit that. Especially over the anorexic slutty girl. But SERIOUSLY. I waited the ENTIRE MOVIE for the old hippie to make even the slightest reference to smoking. Nothing. But yeah, it was a cute movie - not a bad movie - but it could've been set anywhere. Generic Beach Town setting, not Santa Cruz in all its glory, like The Lost Boys (speaking of the comic book guy, have you ever spotted him in that movie? Also, the band from the beach scene is performing at the Boardwalk this month and The Corys might show up)

I met Clea Duvall once in SC because her girlfriend is in The Need and they were playing the Vet's Hall and so was my friend's band. Haha, I was hanging out with her and these other girls I'd met at SF pride the weekend before and it took me half an hour to figure out who she was. I kept thinking maybe we'd gone to high school together or something. And I couldn't figure out why all these random UCSC dykes I barely knew were all sidling up to me. Once I figured it out, it all became clear ( ... )

hilarious fic in which Sam and Dean just get TANKED and talk super-duper smutty about their sexual experiences, especially if Sam just like SHOCKS THE HELL OUT OF DEAN.

Someone should write that, yes. I've vaguely touched on it, but attempts to do it as the center of its own fic have not gotten very far.

I agree. It's one of those things that I really want to READ more than I want to write.

Holy shit that tattoo is the fucking sexiest thing ever.

Erm.

Your musings about Santa Cruz make me incredibly fucking homesick for College Station, which is ludicrous because it's the kind of place you can't wait to leave when you're there.

ASK ME QUESTIONS. I AM INTERESTED TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ME.

It's pretty hot, but SERIOUSLY, if he was really from Santa Cruz it'd be a lot gnarlier.

Okay. Um, questions.

1. Do you consider yourself a romantic at all? Why or why not.

2. What do you find different and/or the same about Potter fandom vs. SPN fandom?

3. What's something about you that most people don't notice right off the bat?

4. Is there anyone important in your life that doesn't know about your fannish endeavors at all? Who and why.

5. Are you ambitious? If so, what do you wanna be when you grow up?

1. Do you consider yourself a romantic at all? Why or why not.
Well, this is kind of a difficult question because there are lots of kinds of romantics, right? I mean. I'm much too cynical to put any stock at all in the one-person-for-everyone trope, and I'm not really a big fan of hearts and flowers and that sort of thing. Then again, about the best Christmas present I ever got was my ex-boyfriend signing our names together in the register at his parents' church when I went to Christmas services with them one year. (Although two months later, we were broken up. Sigh. Two years down the drain.) I think what I mean to say is that I crave the stability and emotional security of a long-term relationship, but it's not really for what one might consider "romantic" reasons? Because seriously, I'd rather play video games in my pajamas than do a romantic dinner. And I'm almost entirely lacking in the possessiveness and sap departments that seem to be part and parcel of what passes for romance in this culture.

IS THAT ANSWER QUESTION Y/N

I think there are many ways to be "a romantic." And I don't actually find most of the traditional romantic things to be all that romantic because they're so cookie-cutter. I tend to find things that are really catered to the personalities of the people to be really romantic. So yeah, that makes sense to me.

I agree that most of the wank that I see across fandoms is pretty f-ing similar. And I do also wonder about how much that has to say about the dynamics of female socialization.

It's interesting how the differences between people and their parents are so well, different. I mean, I'm different from my parents in a lot of ways, but definitely being their child (and respecting a lot of their belief systems) has had a profound effect on who I grew up to be. My mom and I are especially different and there have been times when we've been arguing about something and I'll say, "This is what happens when you raise your daughter to have her own mind, Momma."

I hope you get one or more of those dreams fulfilled in your life. <3

Haha. Being EXTREMELY freckled myself, the general obsession that SPN fandom has with Jensen's freckles amuses me.

Dude, as someone who worked hard to make her freckles nearly invisible (avoid the sun = less freckles = for the win), I don't even know why I'm so giddy over JA's freckles...I just am.

quite alright. I wasn't going to guarantee an answer before I was back in America next week, anyway, and now I have Potter, too, because my random German family members are freaking AWESOME (now I just have to find time to read it amongst all this family stuff)

enjoy your Pottering!!
