So, I have pretty much resolved to prolong my self-imposed fannish exile by not watching the SPN finale tonight and saving it for when I have the time/brain space to flail the way it assuredly warrants. Thus far, my flist is made of awesome and I have not been spoiled at all for last week's ep in the glimpses at LJ that I have taken in the last ( Read more... )

Hee! I mean, the fact that there is none makes me need to do it. But I have to come up with an actual plot and not just like, copy what winterlive did for Jared in "Good Boy Don't."

I have no doubt in my mind if anyone could do it, and make it believable, it'd be you. :D

Sandra Bullock was a single woman with a cat in While You Were Sleeping. And, um, I'm sure I've got more examples in my DVD collection, but I don't think I can be pried away from the TV right now because season finales, WOOT!

Oh! Good one. And um, I think I'll reply to this again after the excitement (that I'm missing!) dies down and see if you can remember any more.

re: the first ETA: The first one that leaps into my mind is Romancing the Stone. But I'm not sure it's a good example, because it's satirizing the romance genre even as it is a romance. (Kathleen Turner plays an author of bodice-rippers who winds up in her own adventure-romance.)

Are we sure this is a film stereotype in particular? I kind of think of it as a life stereotype, particularly if said single women live in NYC.

Actually that first one sounds really good.

And I totally think it's a life stereotype, I just happen to be writing about representations (film major, you know).

Have you seen it? It's actually a good movie... although my opinion may have been skewed by seeing it repeatedly as a kid. :)

I actually don't think I have seen it, but I will have soon. I took it out from the media library today.

Oh, God. Hang in there, baby!

The only thing that's springing to mind is that Batman movie, the one with Michelle Pheifer as catwoman? She was a geeky, single, career woman with a pet cat before she became a reincarnated woman/feline hybrid, right?

Thanks! I'm using my will-power to protect myself from my lack of will-power, you know?

And yep, got Batman Returns already on the Woman-is-Cat list (though it could go on the Woman-has-cat list as well).
