I was on the phone with my mom the other day, and she was telling me a story about looking through old pictures with my niece, K.  K is 2 and half, and painfully adorable.  When she doesn't act like a mini-version of her mom, she acts like a mini-version of me.  In fact, she probably looks more like I did than my sister did, mostly because her ( Read more... )

I had NO hair back in the late '70s...platinum-blond peach fuzz until 1981, I had. And I was thinking -- you and I and the aforementioned best friend, were we the only ones who had really long hair? I mean, longer than shoulder-length... OH! AZ did. *nods* Yes.

I'm sorry that your instinct was to hide. And that, even in the decision to be more honest about that particular story, you're finding the need to still hide that part of your history, in a way. And feeling defensive about it.

Anyway, the story about K is freakin' adorable, and I love it! I especially love that R has supported K in that identification, you know? She sounds like a really cool mom.
