This is awesome. Doubly so for reading with T3 on the background. :-) (Yay for embracing the mass of Silly String that is the Terminator space/time continuum!)

(I didn't intend to, it just exploded in my head while I was sorting things at work! argh.)

Whether the children around her could read and think like adults didn't really matter.

Lovely, stark sentence that brings home the reality of the situation better for me than anything else.

John had said, once, that his mother could compel anyone to believe her without half trying.

Excellent description; that's certainly Sarah.

"Come with me if you want my son to live."

I really love that you worked the Family Code Phrase in.

Kate would trade John's certain death for something like hope.

The "something like hope" phrasing is brilliant.

I really like this.

Thank you! I think a part of that flavor came from those moments in BSG where we saw the civilians, as much as the idea of projecting a future where the machines nuked us.

I really love that you worked the Family Code Phrase in.

=D I couldn't help it! I was struggling for more of an end than just "and Sarah and Kate teamed up and blew things up" (which they did). And that fit.

As did the "something like hope" bit.

I'm glad you liked it.

*squeee* I loved it! Thank you so much for this wonderful story! *cuddles story close*

There was nothing for a moment and then the movement resolved into a figure in grey and black, a dog sitting at her feet.

I love that, after all this time, Sarah still has a dog. That's so perfect. :-)

That the future wasn't supposed to be set in stone.

Love this tie-in with the original movie.

Come with me if you want my son to live.

This line is perfect. Fits right in with the whole Terminator universe.

Well done. Having just come from seeing Terminator: Salvation, this was like even more of a wonderful gift.

Thank you again for writing this story. :-)

\o/ YAY!

Sarah and her dogs, it just seemed to fit--even if she knows who she'll meet, it's still Sarah and she's still just a bit paranoid.

This line is perfect. Fits right in with the whole Terminator universe.

Hah! That was the one I was worried about would sound too cheesy.

You're welcome. Thank you for giving a prompt that kicked my brain into action!

And thank you for the feedback. =)

This was so awesome! I share your love for the 3rd movie :) and this was a great future Kate piece. Love that she's definitely hardened and stronger, but can't quite be completely pessimistic. This line: Kate would trade John's certain death for something like hope. was great.

Living with John, I don't think anyone can stay completely pessimistic. If only because he'd be Mr. Gloomy all the time, and there'd be a natural tendency for rebellion, even if you mostly agree with him.
