Are you going?
People need to fucking read the Bible. It says nothing against abortion, so why do people assume God is against them?

Things not being in the Bible have never prevented Christians from prohibiting things before. So why stop now?

(This is true of most major world religions.)

I just always figured that if you were going to base your life on one book, you'd bother reading it first...

That seems like a completely illogical argument. HBC prevents ovulation therefore preventing fertilization. Amirite?!

I'm having a hard time keeping obscenities from falling out of my mouth all over the place right about now. This is bullshit.

i think the pro-life movement is an obscenity in itself. truly disgusting.

Nothing wrong with being "pro-life". I think "anti-choice" was the word you were looking for.

It does over 90% of the time. It also thins the uterine lining so that it's harder for an egg to implant in case one is released, and thickens cervical mucous, which makes it hard for sperm to find it, too.

But we can't take the chance that one might slip through! Because God doesn't like these newfangled medical thingies! (Even though some medical professionals estimate about 80% of all fertilized eggs simply fail to implant, with no one being the wiser, or else implant and then miscarry within days or weeks, again, with a woman not usually noticing anything except perhaps a heavier than normal period.)

Women are easier to control when they're pregnant all the time! See: the part about restricting the activities of pregnant women.

Oh, religious right. Sometimes I think I'm imagining that this kind of thing is real. It has to be some satirical movie script or novel, right?

"restricting the activities of pregnant women"

Your body belongs to your fetus. You can't have a glass of wine after dinner, because your body belongs to your fetus. You can't ride that roller coaster, because your body belongs to your fetus. You better stay at home and not do anything, because your body belongs to your fetus. We're not going to fund any kind of pre-natal care, because money belongs to rich people.

And . . . it turns out that fetuses are most vulnerable to alcohol very early on, before most women know they're pregnant. You're all pre-pregnant. None of you are allowed to do anything at all, because your body belongs to your dear, sweet, innocent, not-yet-conceived fetuses.

They get slightly less innocent when conceived (original sin and all), but still more innocent than you, even less innocent when actually born, and lose all innocence entirely when they hit puberty. Try them as adults for their crimes!

Poor people can't go having babies. They don't have the money. Unless they want to give them away to deserving rich people.

Oh yes they can. Poor white women should have babies, so they can give them to rich white people (but not gay) who want them.

But not poor women of color. No one wants those babies.

You know -- no source, just recollection (and I'm sure you know this, just musing) -- but I remember reading that alcohol consumption is actually not as harmful to the fetus as people have blown it out of proportion to be. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is caused by alcohol abuse during pregnancy, not simple drinking, and especially in the later stages of pregnancy like you mentioned even medical professionals have said that having a few small drinks isn't likely to cause fetal abnormalities.
