Montreal Massacre and Canada's National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Today marks the 18th anniversary of the "Montreal Massacre". On December 6, 1989 at the l'École Polytechnique, 14 women were gunned down and killed because of their gender by a man claiming to seek revenge of feminists. Thanks for posting this! At my university (University of Winnipeg) we did a die-in where 14 of us lay down for 45 minutes in a busy hallway. Then we had four speakers; a womyn's centre collective member, a professor, a young woman who spoke about missing Native women, and a young man who was great and will be doing a resisting sexism workshop in January.

It felt like a great way to honour these 14 women and all the other women across Canada who have been victims of violence.

He taught in the school of business at University of Manitoba but I think he lectured at University of Winnipeg occasionally - long shot anyway.
