Perhaps equality of duties should mean that domestic work, like industrial work, should be shared equally between men and women, and not forever delegated to the realm of the feminine.
The Evil Dr. Laura addresses this point in her book The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands. She calls it "The White Rabbit Syndrome," meaning that women are expected to have careers while also fully maintaining the home, leaving little (or no) time for anything else.
Her solution is simply for women not to work; this article, however, suggests something more pragmatic.
I found that the usage of Marxism in this instance served to highlight issues that come with full equality, which is the goal of communism. Dispite the fact that communism was used as a focus here, the points made are very relevent in today's society. Even if you don't believe in communism, the points made are not any less valid.
Sure, thinking about women's roles in the household and the workplace is good stuff - but dictatorship does not and will never be "equality", so thinking about women's equality inside of a communist ideology is like thinking about fishie freedom inside an aquarium.
Corrupt communism is a dictatorship. The ideal form of Marxism is equaity for all. People are greedy and thus communism does not work, and becomes a corrupt dictatorship.
okay so i apologize for only skimming a lot of that.
